PRODUCT COMPARISON: Revlon Colorstay vs San San Liquid Foundation

If you've been following me ever since I started, maybe you already know that I have a super duper oily skin. As in to the maximum EXTREME level! It is really crazy! It is oily but not so sensitive.

I tried using different drugstore products that helped me a bit. But I really want to look for a makeup product that will satisfy my needs.

I have tried a few liquid, cream and powder foundations that quite satisfy me. But I still haven't found my HG foundation.
Here I will show you guys 2 liquid products that I like using as of the moment. These are 2 drugstore products.   They both claim to be very "oily skinned people" friendly. :D

San San Matte Finish Liquid foundation
                and Revlon Colorstay foundation

San San Matte Finish Liquid Foundation
I got it at HBC for 80 pesos during their sale.
[ Originally it costs, 132 pesos. ]

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation
I got it from Chedelyn's Cosmetics on FB for Php 550.
But on Revlon counters it is Php 800+.

REVLON 310 Warm Golden
SAN SAN in No. 03

So, I did a little bit of an "experiment" to see which foundation works better for people with oily skin. :) I took some photos as the day went by. They are both amazing but of course one is better than the other, at some points.

So, if you want to know which is better... continue reading! ♥

At 1:48 pm, I put on my foundations. The Revlon on the LEFT and the San San on the RIGHT.

I only used my fingers to apply the foundations on my face.
I set it with a bit of powder using my Marionnaud Powder Brush. [ EB 3D Compact ]
And then contoured my face and out on a bit of a blush. [ ELF BLUSH AND BRONZER DUO ]

If you guys notice, the RIGHT side of my face is not as matte as the LEFT one.
For me, the San San doesn't give off super matte finish. After you put it on, it'll leave a bit of dewiness in to your face. It glides on smoothly just like the Revlon one, but it feels a bit sticky.

Then, after 1 hour I checked my face again and this is how it looks.

As you can see, the RIGHT side of my face looks a bit shinier than the other one. I can feel the oil seeping through my T-zone and right cheek already. It isn't oily yet though.

5:42 pm. It has been almost 4 hours already since I applied my foundations.
And my face definitely looks oily!

The oil on my LEFT side was starting to build up by that time. You can see the oil seeping through my make up.
And on the RIGHT side, my face is super oily already. It looks like a frying pan! hehe
BTW, I didn't put any primer. I also didn't use my Oil Eliminator nor my setting spray.

Then, after another hour. I can already feel that my face looks like a grease ball! So, I checked back and blot my face [ FOR THE FIRST TIME, TODAY ] using my FAVORITE blotting paper.

BEFORE

AFTER BLOTTING

I wasn't able to take a nice shot of my face before blotting it. Its super duper gross!

9:44 After more or less 8 hours, and 1 blotting. Here is how my face looks like.
It wasn't super oily [maybe] because I blotted it. But I hope you guys can see that the RIGHT side looks oilier than the other.

Based on this experiment, it is obvious that Revlon Colorstay is better than the San San foundation. BUT San San is also a good product considering its price!

THE PROS and CONS

For the San San Matte Finish foundation in No. 03
PROS

--- It is amazing in spite of its CHEAP price!
--- Good Coverage! light- medium
--- The packaging doesn't look cheap. I think it is made out of glass.
--- It glides on smoothly into the face. [ even though its sticky ]
--- It contains Vitamins A, C and E.
--- It is a good foundation for every day use. Especially during summer days.
--- You can see the ingredients at the back of the bottle.

CONS
- - - It contains PROPYL PARABEN.
- - - It has this mocha-y scent. It doesn't bother me but it might bother you.
- - - It claims to have a matte finish but it doesn't have one.
- - - Its a bit hard to blend.
- - - After a few hours you can already feel the oil seeping through.
- - - It is a bit sticky even after a few minutes.
- - - There are only 3 or 4 shades available.

For the Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation in 301 Warm Golden
PROS
- - - Good Coverage! medium to heavy
- - - It glide smoothly on the face as well.
- - - It doesn't feel sticky or heavy at all.
- - - It dries up MATTE.
- - - It lasts long. It says here 24 hours but I don't know about that. But it will last for a good 8 hours.
- - - It is a good foundation for people with oily skin.
- - - I believe they have a good variety of shades.

CONS
- - - It is a bit expensive. Php 800++
- - - It has no pump or anything. That's why you cannot control the product that much. And its a bit messy.
- - - It also has a smell. But not as strong as the San San one. Its tolerable, for me.
- - - You can't see the ingredients.

SO, that's my review/experiment on this 2 liquid foundations. I think the both of them are amazing products. BUT I think I would love to use Revlon more if I want my foundation to last longer, especially for people who have oily skin like me. :)
It works best when you use a good primer and a setting powder/spray.

Will I repurchase?
YES. This is actually my 2nd bottle of the San San foundation. And the Colorstay, maybe I will. I am still on a hunt for a good foundation that is HG material. :)

Will I recommend?
YES! I recommend them both. Our weather is CRAZY! And these 2 product MIGHT work for you as well. If you're looking for a good but cheap every day foundation, the San San might work for you. But if you're looking for a long lasting foundation that won't make you look like a grease ball, I recommend the Revlon Colorstay.

I hope you guys enjoyed my mini experiment. hehe

REVIEW: Clean and Clear Oil Control Film

Hi! I am back! :) I have been lacking some posts for a week, I am sorry. hehe I did a little bit of explanation why on my last post. [ HERE. ] :)

Anyways, I am so back! And here's another review/ RAVE on a product I absolutely love.
It is the Clean and Clear Oil Control Film.

I bet you a lot of guys already know what this AMAZING product is. But to those of you who aren't familiar about it, which I highly doubt, this product is basically a HEAVEN SENT product. hehe

"CLEAN & CLEAR® oil control films instantly soaks up excess oil and removes shine from your face, without smudging makeup or leaving behind powder. Softer than paper, these silky sheets can be used easily around your nose and other areas of your face. Leaves your skin feeling refreshed, oil-free and shine-free. "

This has been my best friend for.... 100 years! hehe
But kidding aside, I have been using this product since grade 6 or high school. That means I have been using this for a very very long time already. And it never fails me!

I have tried some other blotting powder before, but I always come back to this. It really works! It does what ever it claims to do. ITS AWESOME! :)

So, yesterday I did an experiment for another blog post. And when I got oily, as in SUPER oily. I took some pictures to show you guys how this work.

I hope you can see the difference. On the right side I have oil seeping through my face, and its shiny. While on the other side, I used my Clean and Clear and it became matte. NO SHINE at all!

Here is all the oil from my face. [ WARNING: EEEEWWWWY! ]

SEE! It really absorbs ALL the oil in an instant! After gently dabbing the paper/film on my face, it leaves NO SHINE. All the oil was all gone!
Here is the AFTER.

I LOVE IT! ♥ Why? Here are the PROS.
--> It works wonders! AMAZING!
-- > It doesn't have any smell or anything.
-- > The paper / film isn't scratchy. It has a silky feel actually.
-- > It doesn't clog pores! It really doesn't.
-- > It won't tear up easily.
-- > It is very very handy!
-- > You can find it everywhere, almost. hehe
Watsons, Department Stores, Robinsons, 7-eleven,. etc.

And the CONS that I can think about is/are.
-- > It is quite expensive compared to the other blotting sheets. I forgot the EXACT amount but I believe its between 109 - 139 pesos.
-- > Besides that, I cannot think of any other CONS anymore.

I LOVE this stuff! I can't say enough good things about it. And I never ever leave the house without this. It's a must have in every girl's makeup kit, especially to those who have an oily skin.

*Will I repurchase? YES! I have been doing that ever since. hehe. I cannot live without this!

*Will I recommend? YES! You girls, even guys who haven't tried or used it before should! It will really help you with your oiliness. :)

REVIEW: ELF Contouring blush and Bronzing powder

"Creates a healthy and natural glow all year long. The Blush highlights the cheeks to add

a flush of color, while the Bronzer accents and contours cheekbones for beautiful

definition."  -- www.eyeslipsface.com

I think this product is one of THE most raved product from ELF. I have been hearing a lot of people saying that this product is a great dupe for NARS' Orgasm and Laguna Duo, which I cannot agree or disagree with cause I do not have the latter product. I have never seen the NARS' Duo before but I did research and the product looks so much the same.

I have been using this product, specifically the bronzer, for more than a year now. I use it every single day to give shape to my big round face. hehe AND I absolutely am in love with it. I kid you not! I cannot leave the house without it. CONTOURING makes a HUGE difference!

I LOVE IT! And it is obvious! hehe I hit pan on the bronzer already. :D
If you guys can see, the products obviously have chunks of glitters on it. And I am  not a fan of glitters, but once you put it on your face and blend it really well. The glitters/shimmers doesn't show up that much.

I don't use the blush that much cause I think its too light. And whenever I apply it on my face by itself, it doesn't show any color.
[ BTW, I am a shade of NC42 on MAC foundation ]

So, I think those people who have lighter skin shade can use the blush for a natural glow.
I sometimes combine the two color for a very sun kissed looking glow on the face.

The blush is a light peach color with a pink-ish undertone. And it has a chunks of gold glitters.
The bronzer is a warm toned brown color with chunks of gold glitters as well.

PROS :
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
* It is very pigmented! The color shows off after 1-2 coats/layer
* The packaging looks super chic! I love how compact it is.
* The bronzer is amazing! It has glitters but it doesn't really look shimmery on the face.
* It is super smooth on the skin and you wont have a hard time applying it.
* It is super cheap and you can find it at any ELF counters.
I bought it for Php 249.50 at Watsons Mall of Asia.
* It will last you a very long time.
I believe I bought it last year, June 2011. And I use it every single day! Until now I still have lots of product. :)

CONS :
:(
* The blush is too light. But its build - able.
* It is a bit chalky. [ what I do is a I tap the excess product from the brush before applying it on my face. ]

I love it more than I don't because I think for its price, the product is amazing!
I can't say enough good things about it cause I really really love it. I think a bronzer/contouring powder is a must have in every girl's kikay kit.

I cannot compare it with any other bronzers cause I haven't used other brands yet. So for now, this is my go-to product. :)

Will I repurchase it?
YES! But I would love to just buy the bronzer one cause I really don't use the blush that much.

Will I recommend it?
I will definitely recommend this to everyone! Especially those who don't have enough money yet to buy high end products like MAC or NARS. This is definitely a must have! :)

REVIEW: Caress Nail Polish

There was a time in my life that I thought I need to have TONS of nail polishes.
When I started buying a few, I just can't help but buy more! I am not a fan of expensive brands but I have tons of the drugstore ones. I had Caronia, Bobbi and San San brands on my nail polish stash. It was crazy cause I didn't care if they dry up super quickly, or even if the quality isn't good. I used to change my nails every 3 days. And it made my nails super ugly!

BUT thank God, I got over that phase already. I don't even paint my nails on a regular basis anymore. I just do it once in a while, or whenever I feel like doing them.

Last Sunday night, I was bored ad I can't sleep so I have decided to give myself a mine manicure. :) I cleaned my nails and looked for a nail polish. ( BTW I oly have 4 nail polishes now! hehe )

So, I wanted to use the gray one from Caress. Its in the shade of Gray Stone.
I got it a few months ago at The Landmark for only Php 22.00. I believe you can also find this brand on Watsons or any SM Dept. Store.

This is my first time using this nail polish. So I really didn't know the consistency of it.

Before I put on a nail polish on my nails. I always use the Caronia Nail Hardener and Base Coat first. So, I did that. And then I applied the first coat.

It was too watery! Its too opaque! I can't even see the color of the nail polish, which is bad! But I thought to myself, maybe I need to apply another coat.

So, after the 2nd coat. Im still not satisfied. I applied another coat and its starting to form little bubbles. And I can feel that it is too much product already. It feels thick and I don't like that.

And as you can see, after 3 coats the color is still not that visible.
You can even see my nails on some areas. I don't like that the consistency is too liquid-y.
And it doesn't give enough color to my nails.

After that I put on a coat of my Chic colorless nail polish, then I put a few drops of the Caronia Kwik Dry on each nails.

I didn't like it so a few minutes later I have decided to just remove it.
Overall, I don't like the product. But I remember having some Caress nail polishes before that isn't this bad. I guess, it depends on the color or whatever.

So yeah, that's my unplanned review. hehe.
Do you guys experienced this thing with any other nail polishes too? Comment down below! ♥

REVIEW: Loreal Voluminous Mascara

I used to not care on putting on a mascara. When I was just starting, I thought that its a waste of money and its really not necessary. I thought that I don't really need a mascara on my kit.

My first ever mascara is the Bobbi Brown mascara that my aunt from Taiwan gave me. I loved it! It was a great mascara. It lengthens my lashes and it just made my eyes look amazing. And from then on I realized how it affects my eye's appearance. I realized that it makes a big difference.

After I finished the tube, I was searching for a not so expensive mascara that will still satisfy my need. My lashes isn't that short, I am pretty satisfied with the length of it. I am pretty blessed on that. :)

Here is a photo of my lashes without any mascara.

I bought the Magnum Volum Express mascara from Maybelline. And it didn't satisfy me. So for awhile, I stopped bothering searching for a mascara. But to not waste my money on it, I used the mascara just for the sake of it.

And then a few months ago I heard how Judy of ItsJudyTIme raved about it. I wanted to get the same mascara but I told myself that I should finish up my mascara first. So I didn't bother searching.

Last May, when I went to the Superb Bazaar, I went to Chedelyn's Cosmetics booth to buy some products. I bought the Revlon Colorstay and some other things. When I'm about to pay, I saw the mascara that Judy was talking about. Then and there, I knew that I have to get it! So, I did.

Here's what it looks like.

I think the packaging looks super sleek. Gold with some cute angles! :) I love it!
It isn't cheap looking at all!
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  [ 5 hearts to that! ]

The applicator isn't too special. But I noticed that it is thinner and longer than the Maybelline mascara. It is skinny enough to reach the inner corner of my lashes.
And it doesn't look complicated so I like it about that. :)
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [ 5 hearts! ]

The consistency is a bit dry. I don't know if its really the normal consistency of it but its still working, so no problem with that. I like that it isn't messy to apply. 1-2 coats is enough to give your lashes the UMPH that you're looking for!
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  [ 5 heartssss! ]

So here's what my lashes look like with this mascara on.

Isn't it gorgeous?! :)
This product claims to give your lashes the volume that falsies can give.
And I agree! I really don't wear falsies cause first, I don't know how. And second because I think its TOO much.
So this mascara is a good alternative to falsies. :)

I really love it. I love how it lengthens and volumizes my lashes.
It doesn't clump nor smudge.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
5 HEARTS!

I will definitely repurchase this! And yes, I recommend it to everyone!
All girls who lovesss mascaras and who wants longer lashes, this is a must have! :)

And I am not sure if its available locally. But you can buy it from online shops.
I bought mine for 350 pesos from Chedelyn's Cosmetics on facebook.
Pretty cheap huh?!  ♥
I was blown away by how amazing this product is! For now, this baby is my HG mascara!
LOOVE IT! ♥

Have you guys tried this already? What's your experience with it?
Share it down below! ♥
THANKS!

REVIEW: In2it waterproof gel liner

" A smooth and soft gel liner, that glides onto the skin. The pencil shape gives balance making it easier to hold and apply. Quick drying, waterproof, and super long wearing. No running, no smudging, no panda eyes, no fragrance. Easy to apply and remove. "[ read it here ]
I have heard about this from a friend. She LOVES this product so much! So, I wanted to try it for myself to see why she's HEAD OVER HEELS about this product. :)

Whenever I go to Watsons, In2it never interest me. I only have 1 product from them before I purchased this. I am using their eyebrow colour since the very start. My cousin recommended it because she's using it and she loved it. Well, its still the only eyebrow kit I use ever since, I think it is pretty good. ANYHOO, back to the topic! hehe
I went to Watsons a few weeks ago to pick up some stuff [ haul here ] and this baby! :) I was super excited to try it. And it's my very first gel liner, ever!

The packaging looks like this:  HERE
It comes with a small sharpener. And the box is pretty cute. I love it! :)
I think they have a few more beautiful colors, but I didn't bother exploring it cause I don't want to spend more on whatever stuffs. hehe But I believe they have it in some purple-y color and a brown one. Thos are the colors I am pretty sure of.

For the packaging and the physical appearance of the pencil itself, I will give it...
 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [ 5 HEARTS! ]

I got the one in the color "very black" cause I only use black liners, as of the moment. But i want to try the brown one too.

It is a waterproof GEL liner. A gel liner in a pencil form??! I LOVE! hehe I can't line my eyes perfectly that's why I don't use gel or liquid liners before. I only use pencil liners. So, I was really excited to try this out when I found out that it is a gel liner. Plus, its waterproof!

The consistency is very creamy! It really glides on super smoothly! I love that about this baby!
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [ 5 HEARTS ]

I can't say enough good things about the consistency of the product. It helped me line my eyes easily and it's perfect for me! I just really love it! :)

The product claims to be:
* Quick drying, waterproof and super long wearing.
*No running, no smudging, no panda eyes, no fragrance.
*Easy to apply and remove

I agree that the product is quick drying, waterproof and super long wearing. It doesn't run or smudge as well! No panda eyes and no fragrance. And yes, it is easy to apply

BUT it isn't easy to remove.
If you don't use any makeup remover before washing your face, you'll still see the liner on your eyes and well, you'll have a super panda eyes. hehe
I use EVOO ( extra virgin olive oil ) as a makeup remover that's why I can remove this stuff easily. I think that's the only down side, well not that you cannot do anything about it. :) Just use a makeup remover to remove it, then you're good to go!

~

I also love the texture of it. It is matte but not boring kind of matte. And I LOVE matte. :)
So, for the texture ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [ 5 HEARTS ]

I got this liner in Watsons Mall of Asia for Php 379.75. You can find this at any In2it counter in Watsons or SM Department stores and in Robinsons, I believe. :)
The price and the availability gets ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [ 5 HEARTS ] as well!

I definitely recommend this to everyone! It is a very affordable and the quality is amazing! :) ♥
I LOVE IT!

REVIEW: Carmex Lipbalm

My lips tend to dry super fast! I was using my EOS lipbalm for months, and I like it but it isn't what I really need. I need a lipbalm that can moisturize my lips for a long time, a lipbalm that isn't that thick and greasy. I was searching the internet for the good ones that I can get here in the Philippines. After a few weeks of searching, there is one product that really caught my interest... CARMEX LIPBALM!

"Carmex adds natural emollients to your lips, while locking in your own body's moisture to help protect against chapping and cracking. Lanolin, for example, is a natural substance that locks in moisture. The lanolin in Carmex is easily absorbed into the delicate skin of your lips, where it provides a temporary barrier against the drying effects of wind, heat and cold. "

I saw a lot of good things about this brand.  I didn't know that it is available here in our country until just recently! So, I was super excited when I found out. :)

I bought mine from The Landmark in Makati when me and my mom went grocery shopping there. I bought the one in this cute little tube (10g) for Php 109.75.
Cheaper than my EOS ones! OH YEAH! ♥

PRICE = 10/ 10 ♥

I just find this tube super cute! And its yellow! ♥  YEY!
They also have it on this little jar and the stick type one ( just like an ordinary balm ). Their packaging looks so cute and inviting, for me. :) It doesn't look cheap too! I LOVE IT!

PACKAGING = 10/10 ♥

It claims to give your lips a long lasting relief or moisture. And I can say that it will really moisturize your lips for a veeeeeery long time! :) I LOVE IT! I expected it to be greasy and all that, but it isn't! It is not thick as well, and I love that!

A few hours after I put this baby on, my lips are still super duper soft and moisturized!

For MOISTURIZING your lips? 10/10 baby!!! ♥

I can't say enough good things about Carmex! It is the best lipbalm i have ever used so far. And I am pretty sure that I will forever love this product. I am actually planning on buying the one in the cute jar and the cherry flavored one! I am pretty ecstatic! :)

PROS:
- its very affordable! ♥
- the packaging is cute and doesn't look cheap! ♥
- it really REALLY moisturize your lips for a long time! ♥
- when you put it on, for a few minutes you'll feel a minty/ tingling sensation. (and i love that! )
- its AMAZING!  ♥ BEST I've ever used! LOVE IT! :)

I can't think of any cons. I just love this product so much! :) Maybe the smell, for some people cause the smell kind of reminds me of Vicks. But that doesn't bother me at all! :)

Will I buy this product again?
OOOOH YEAH! DEFINITELY! It's worth every peso! :) ♥

I hope you guys find this review helpful. If you have dry, chapped lips like me (and that isn't sexy. hehe ). You might want to try this amazing product. :) It is very affordable and worth it!

I am pretty sure that you can find Carmex at Robinson's department store and Landmark. It isn't available yet in SM, i think.
